Summer in New Hampshire

Summer in the White Mountains and Lakes Region of New Hampshire is the most welcome season! After a long snowy winter , green grass is welcomed by the native residents and summer vacationers.  Towns like Wolfeboro have ice out contests for guessing when the ice will be out on Winnipesaukee.

Lilacs the state flower, start blooming.  Golfers polish up the clubs in preparation to visit one of the many local golf courses from Indian Mound Golf Course in Ossipee to the course at Hales Location.The summer camps on Ossipee Lake open the cabins, and kids have trouble sitting still in the last days of school!

Hikers will be out on the trails, perhaps stopping for a visit at the Madison Boulder. Starting with Memorial Day celebrations, there are events happening every week. Towns start preparing for Old Home Week celebrations.  Come July 4th every town puts on it’s best red, white & blue outfit and celebrates with firework displays. 

Visit Tamworth’s Remick Museum anytime and see a real working farm. The village is also home to the Barnstormers Theater, America’s oldest professional summer theater.

Many of the local towns will be hosting Farmers Markets where fresh local produce and handcrafted items.

After Labor Day

There is still much to do in Carroll County and the Mt Washington Valley  area, come up and check out the dog show.

As the weather cools down from summers’ heat, the country side is painted in the many vivid colors of fall.  The foliage season is many visitors favorite time of year here in the north country. With cooler temps, many find biking, horseback riding, and hiking in the White Mountain National Forest  perhaps the Piper Trail that leads to the top of Mt Chocorua.

September means the Fryeburg Fair Maine’s Blue Ribbon classic for over 100 years!   Then Columbus Day Weekend brings the 4 day, Sandwich Fair.
