Tuftonboro is a unique town in that it started out entirely owned by one John Tufton Mason.
Home to the Abenaki Tower visitors take a short walk to and then climb the tower for stunning views of Lake Winnipesaukee. Tuftonboro has 3 post offices of it's own, one in picturesque Melvin Village, where antique car buffs will find plenty to see!
27 of Winnipesaukes' 274 islands are located in Tuftonboro. Pier 19 is a public dock and a dock for people with homes out on the islands. A short distance away there is a sandy public beach with pavilion for those who like sitting lake side without baking in the sun! Picture here.
Tuftonboro students start out in Tuftonboro Elementary then move to Kingswood for middle and high school classes.
